Collection: Margaux

The Margaux appellation is located around 25 km north of Bordeaux, covers 1,400 hectares of vineyards and, with its gravelly soils and low clay content, offers ideal conditions for Cabernet Sauvignon. The Margaux appellation completes the four famous Médoc appellations; there are 21 classified châteaus here alone, some of which are 2ème and 3ème crus. Fragrant wines with a tight tannin structure are produced here and in many other estates, but in the past Margaux often lacked the class of the more northern growing areas. However, this trend has been reversed in recent years and the top estates have returned to the top in terms of quality in a cross-comparison. The appellation is spread across several municipalities (Margaux, Cantenac, Labarde, Arsac, Soussans), but unlike further north, many châteaus are located in the towns themselves.
